Stade Alassane Ouattara d’Ebimpé, Ebimpé, Anyama, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
Stade Alassane Ouattara d'Ebimpé, often called the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpé, is Côte d'Ivoire's national stadium and one of West Africa's most modern multi-purpose venues. It sits in Ebimpé, near Anyama, north of central Abidjan, and opened on 3 October 2020 as part of a joint Ivorian and Chinese infrastructure project. With seating for 60,012 spectators, it's the largest stadium in the country and serves as home ground for the Ivory Coast national football team.
Football is the main draw here, and the stadium's biggest moment came when it hosted the opening match and the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, played in January 2024 after a weather-related postponement. Beyond AFCON, it has staged World Cup qualifiers and CAF fixtures, and the venue is also built to accommodate rugby and athletics events alongside major concerts and public gatherings.
Built across a 20-hectare site with GrassMaster turf and an athletics track running the perimeter, the stadium rises five levels to a height of over 51 metres, fully covered and fitted with VIP lounges, media facilities and an anti-doping control room. Nearly twice the size of Abidjan's older Félix-Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, it stands today as the country's flagship venue for sport.
